Delavan, IL - Many hands make light the work. That was certainly the case on Saturday, May 9, 2020, as several men from St. Mary's came together to do some spring cleanup on the grounds at the Rectory and the Church.
Several projects were completed in about four hours time. The beautiful crabapple trees at the side of the Church and the trees in front were trimmed. Hostas were planted in the backyard of the Rectory. Additional mulch was brought in and added to the hosta bed. A rock border was installed. And a railing was put on the back porch to the Rectory.
During this time of "shelter in place" with no Masses, many of you may not have seen the spring landscape at St. Mary's. The crabapple trees are in bloom. They are beautiful, as you can see from the picture in this article and on our Home page. If you are going stir crazy and want to get out of the house, drive by St. Mary's (before the spring rains and winds strip the trees of their blooms). It will be worth your time.
Thank you to this group of guys (several are not pictured) for giving us the realization that the beauty of St. Mary's doesn't start at the brick on the building - it starts outside.
