The Church of St. Mary's is joining with the community of Delavan and the Delavan United Methodist Church in collecting items for the 2019 Christmas baskets for those in need in our area. There were 63 requests for baskets last year but only 30 were fulfilled. The goal is to be able to fulfill
all requests this year!
If you know of someone who would benefit from receiving a basket they can be requested by calling the City at 244-7146 by December 1st. Baskets will be distributed on Saturday, December 14th.
The following non-perishable items are needed for each box:
a box or bag of stuffing mix
2 boxes of instant mashed potatoes
2 boxes of scalloped or au-grautin potatoes
2 boxes of macaroni & cheese
2 cans of green beans
2 cans of corn
1 can of yams
1 can of cranberry sauce
2 cans of gravy or 2 packages of gravy mix
boxed dessert (cake, cookies, brownies)
There is a special box in the vestibule of the church (by St. Joseph) for this collection. It will remain there through Thanksgiving weekend.
Monetary donations are also needed for the purchase of perishable items, including ham, milk, eggs, flour, bread, sugar, brown sugar and marshmallows. You can give your donation to any of the Altar & Rosary officers, Becky Kendregan, Becki Fisher, or Patti Yontz.
Consider buying one extra item each week as you do your grocery shopping and dropping it in the box when you come to Mass. Together we can do this!
