One Bread, One Body
Thank you for your interest in St. Mary's Altar & Rosary Society!
All women of the Parish are considered members, regardless of age, and we invite every lady to join in helping with the Society’s work. We meet 4 times a year (JAN MAY AUG NOV or as needed – watch bulletin or check online calendar for date and time). You don’t have to attend meetings to be active. There are many opportunities to serve, both big and small, to become an active member.
Prayerfully consider any part of this ministry. For more information, contact the Parish Office at 309-244-8516 or click here to send a message. The Parish needs you!
During the months of May and October, the Rosary is prayed before the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Consider coming to Mass a little earlier during these two months to pray or lead the Rosary. Any Parish member can volunteer to lead this prayer.
We host receptions to honor the children of our Parish celebrating the Sacrament of 1st Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation.
We host several Parish potlucks during the year: The Mardi Gras dinner on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday, the Meatless Potluck before the Stations on one of the Fridays during Lent, the Harvest Potluck in October and the Christmas Potluck the Sunday before Christmas.
Funeral dinners are served by request of the Family.
Travel size items are collected throughout the year, sorted and delivered to local prisons.
You can help by donating items such as deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, toothpaste, etc. A box is located in the narthex of the church for this purpose.
Both quilts and no-sew fleece blankets are made and donated to the Christ Child Society of Central Illinois, located in the Family Resource Center Building in Peoria. These quilts are included in layettes which are given to at-risk families for their newborn babies.
Quilts and blankets are made from donated materials on hand. If you would like to sew quilt tops, bring your machine. If you don't sew, there is always a need for people to sort through material, cut, and iron.
We meet in the basement of St. Mary’s. Watch the bulletin for date and time.
Non perishable food items are collected thoughout the year and donated to the Delavan Food Pantry. A box is located in the narthex of the church for this purpose.
We host the Red Cross Blood drive annually, usually in mid February, at the American Legion.
The area churches join together on Sunday evening during Lent for weekly community services. Refreshments follow at the hosting church.
